Night Ripper

Girl Talk - A Track Off The New Album

From Pittsburgh with time spent in Cleveland, Girl Talk is but one man (Gregg) and his laptop but the shit that dude creates is better than some labels' entire roster. While the whole "mash up" phenomenon has kind of leveled off, Gregg takes it to a whole other level: he cuts, layers, mixes, and remixes what seems to be a million songs to create nonstop dance party hits. His latest album, Night Ripper is just another quality volume to an already solid catalog. Hear Jeezy on top of Nirvana mix into Biggie rapping "Juicy" on top of Elton John's "Tiny Dancer". Here Uncle Luke chant "Heyyyyy we want some puuuussssaaaay" while Paul McCartney sings "IIIIIIIII looooooooove youuuuuu" underneath. I just listened to the entire album while working, and I have to say that it was the most enjoyable 41.9 minutes of work I'd done all day, if not, all week.
For those in the Cleveland area, you can cop the album tomorrow as Girl Talk will be performing, Saturday April 29th at Mercury Lounge down on W. 6th downtown. Shit is FO FREE and doors are at 10pm. I am semi-retired from dancing of any sort, but anytime Girl Talk is in town, I'm dancing like my life depended on it.
I am not lying.
"Night Ripper", as well as other Girl Talk albums can be purchased online at Illegal Art.
He's also got Girl-Talk.net and a myspace profile with a couple songs up for you to listen.
I guess thats it.
Fuck your life.

Drive-by Post #5

Cavs win game 1

Well, even though they are the favored to take the series, this win still brings a good smile to my face. Lebrizzle has come out the gates hard and hopefully they can take this one all the way to the top (if you're from Cleveland, you know what commercial I'm referring to).

Bow Wow vs. P & Romeo

Well, it looks like the inevitable feud is slowly getting more heated by the day as Bow Wow responds to some comments P and Romeo made about him. My personal favorite is "You [Lil' Romeo] can't sell no records, and your daddy is on Dancing With the Stars." I never liked Romeo from day one, and I honestly feel that if this is going to wax, Bow Wow is going to eat Romeo alive (come on, who would even be ghost writing for Rome? P? Silkk?).

And lastly, I hear Cleveland's the new New York. I think my favorite description of this all so far either came from Ben or our friend Phil who said "they asked extras to dress like they were from New York and its pretty amazing to see what people think New Yorkers dress like".
